Up with the chickens

Here’s one good reason to be up with the chickens. Or in my case, up with the airplanes. Yes, I fall into the category of being a city boy, but I wish I could be a country boy.
Thank you Father for the gift of vision! Your creation sings of Your glory!

Watch “A Girl’s Message To All Christians” on YouTube

Good morning world! I watched this clip and wanted to share it with you. One question that most individuals ask themselves in their lifetime is:

What is the meaning of life?

Please give Jesus a chance. He will transform you from the inside out the way He did for me! Have a great day world! I love You!

The Poison of Slander

Don’t hire him. He lied on his resume.

She’s so ugly, and she has gonorrhea.

You don’t want to work with him, he’s racist, and hates you.

What if I told you all these statements were false accusations? It certainly would be hurtful to find out if someone was bad mouthing you to other people, telling them lies about you. The above statements are examples of slander.

Let’s define slander. Slander is to make a false spoken statement that causes others to have a poor opinion of someone. It’s done maliciously and is intended to defame the individual. Here’s a link to the full definition:

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/slander

Also, a libel is slander but in a written context.

http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/libel-vs-slander-different-types-defamation.html

Have you been slandered against dear reader? I’m sure you have, or at least there’s a very good chance of it. It does not feel good. It can make you feel like you’re the size of an ant. Slander can happen amongst neighbors, co-workers, fellow students, and sadly even family members. Let me tell you, I know the feeling. When slander occurs, people who have received the negative and false information from slanderers eventually start treating you like a subhuman being. The sin within people, if left rechecked, can lead to ganging up on the victim, and pretty soon many people are against someone who has done nothing wrong. Do not despair dear reader if you have been on the receiving end of slander!

Therefore, what does and how does God feel about slander?

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Exodus 20:16 NKJV

Okay, so it is one of the ten commandments that God gave the Israelites. For them, these were not just mere suggestions, but rather, commandments! As children of our Creator, we want to be pleasing to Him in all things, including the use of slander. Therefore, we all should not take this matter lightly. Our Lord Jesus spoke of the commandments when addressing the young rich man, so we know that the commandments are for us also. We want to inherit what God has promised us through His Son, do we not??

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

Colossians 3:8‭-‬11 NKJV

We have the ultimate example to pattern our lives, praise God! And when we do receive condemnation because of our Lord Jesus, He reassures us.

“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.  Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 5:11‭-‬12 NKJV

Therefore, hang in there my brothers and sisters! How great is our reward! And if you have slandered in the past, please stop! Walk a mile in someone’s shoes who has been slandered, and you will find that it can slowly kill and destroy a person.

Peace be with you in abundance dear reader.

Let’s go fly a kite

Yesterday was a very gusty day here in Denver. All day long, a warm wind whipped up everything. In the evening, the wind direction changed, and it cooled down wonderfully.

Picking up my oldest daughter from school, my wife and I both agreed that it would be an idyllic day to bring the brand new kite we got, and give it it’s first flight. So, there we were, my daughter and I, opening the package and carefully putting the support rods in place. The kite itself is in the shape of a hawk which is fitting since we have many prairie hawks in the area. After carefully following the directions, we were ready to fly.

How exciting, I hadn’t flown a real kite since I was my daughters age! So you can imagine the anticipation between myself and my daughter. The kite went up. The wind took it immediately! Then it came crashing and nose diving into the ground. Okay, no biggie. We picked it up, letting the wind catch the kite once more. And once again, it came crashing to the ground. Time and time again, it went up and quickly came down. How very frustrating! I lost my cool and let the kite know what I thought about it.

I lacked self control, plain and simple. Upon closer inspection, my daughter and I noticed that the stitching around the outer joints was not symmetrical, rendering the kite defective.

He  who  is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Proverbs 16:32 NKJV

Father, please grant me self control. I must have it to be completely sound and to provide a suitable example to my children. Teach me to be like your Son, Jesus Christ, who withstood many things, and utilized self control unto perfection. In Jesus’name, amen.

Jesus once again gives us an example to live by.

Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ” Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan!  For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’  ” Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’  ” Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.

Luke 4:1‭-‬13 NKJV

Dear Grandma,

I miss you! How I wish you were here, because I have so much to talk to you about. I know my questions for you must wait.

You have no idea how much your life touched me. I’m reminiscing of time in the past when I was a young boy, at your house. How simple and at ease those memories are.

Do you remember those times long ago reader? Times from what seem like they’re pages out of a book rather than the far distant memory of family?

I miss the sight of walking up your walk to your front door. I miss the smell of your old house, and the way it greeted me as a child. How I long to see the sun come through the kitchen sheers and fill that space with absolute happiness.

You are missed by more than I, I’m sure. My lil sister was the only girl. You waited so patiently for a granddaughter. If only you were here for her. Things might be different.

I do wish you could be here to experience your great-granddaughter. She is lovely in every way. She reminds me of you and your daughter-my mother. How much has she missed out on!

I love you Grandma! Until we meet again xoxo.

When she’s right, she’s right

My wife and I have been married for five years now. Marriage has been one, if not the greatest of challenges of my entire life. However, marriage has rendered the greatest and sweetest rewards.

My dear wife is the most sensible and endearing woman, and she frequently is very sound and on point with her dialogue and making a point stick. Therefore, when she’s right, she’s right. She’s the one person on the planet who can sew a seed of change within her husband, and hold me to doing the necessary steps to see it to fruition.

As husbands, we are to cherish our wives. To cherish someone or something, it is to have a deep love for and or to treasure. What does God tell us about the treatment of our wife?

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.

Ephesians 5:25‭-‬29 NKJV

We know that Christ have Himself for us. He died for us. He said it Himself that there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for another. Gentlemen, that is the same attitude we need to have towards our wives. We need to put them before us. What is it to cherish your wife? Can you think of any examples? If we are to love our wives as our own bodies, that means we ought to treat them as royalty. We need to treat them better than ourselves. For example, you come home from work. You’re hungry, tired, and want to sit down and relax. You deserve that right? Of course, but cherish your wife first. When you get home, you can give her a break from work, from the children, you put her first, making sure she is happy and taken care of. You cherish your wife, as if she were delicately made from china.

Thank you my love for being my dear wife!

This is a song I’d like to sing to you now:

No more death

Why does there have to be senseless killing?!
This post is dedicated to Terence Crutcher of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He tragically lost his life when his car broke down. Instead of getting help from the police, he was shot as he held his hands up in the air. He died from his wounds.  You can see the story and links to the videos below.

http://kdvr.com/2016/09/20/tulsa-police-release-video-of-shooting-of-unarmed-man-whose-car-had-broken-down/

What do you think reader? Are you tired of seeing this? Senseless killings are an every day occurrence, not only here in the US, but I’m sure around the world. I’m sick of innocent lives being lost. Has violence been on the increase? It sure feels that way.

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Matthew 24:12 KJV

I chose to quote from the King James Version because it uses the words iniquity and abound. What does iniquity mean? It means gross injustice or wickedness. And how about abound? To abound is to be in great numbers or quantity. Matthew 24:12 hits it right on the head concerning the time we live in. However, it seems like it just gets worse and worse. Mr. Crutcher was a victim of terrible iniquity.

I hurt for his twin sister and family. I have siblings. I know I would be hurt, angry, and utterly sad if my brother or sister was killed in such a manner. Twins are even closer. They grow up together in a way normal siblings don’t understand. They grow together in the womb and therefore, know each other better than anyone else on the planet. Mr.Crutcher was a dad also. I hurt for his children because they lost their dad in a way that is inconsolable.

However, the one thing we have control over, is how we react to this situation. Are we going to go on killing rampages to seek revenge? Please do not. We have the perfect example in our Lord Jesus Christ. We react with love, compassion, and tenderness. If we lack understanding, ask, from above and it will be granted. We need understanding. We also need forgiveness, the officers involved in this situation need it, the entire world needs forgiveness. Perhaps forgiveness will usher in understanding. There also needs to be a good hard look at who is hired on to our police forces, the training they receive, and the use of fire arms when approaching a citizen of this country.

Father, we pray for your Kingdom to come, Your will to be done, and for death, wickedness, sadness, and grief to be ended forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.

I would have lost heart…

I  would  have  lost  heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

Psalms 27:13 NKJV
Not feeling so hot today. I’m feeling discomfort and even a little pain in a knee. Listening to myself, this really isn’t so horrible. My dear wife has had a chronic headache for the past few days. She is certainly hurting more than I am. I do hurt for those who were victims of the senseless acts of violence over the weekend in Minnesota.

I ran into the 27th Psalm today. Or it could be said God had it run into me.

The Lord  is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord  is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalms 27:1 NKJV

It comes just in time. When your head is swirling from how hectic life can be, accompanied by tragedy that attempts to darken our spirits, one’s countenance can fall to the ground.

When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.

Psalms 27:10 NKJV

Even if your mother or father leave you or abandon you, the Lord will take care of you! Yes, you read that correctly. I did a double take when seeing that. I can testify to that. Praise the Lord for His loving kindness!

Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence.

Psalms 27:12 NKJV

Do you live in New York or New Jersey? I worry about you, and therefore, pray for you. The above verse comes to mind when thinking of anyone who willingly commits acts of violence. However, if you’re angry and desire violence, please stop and consider your actions. We all have no ability to change how others treat us. You can only decide how you choose to react to every situation in this life. Good or bad. With peace or with violence.

I’m feeling better. Yeah, my knee is in need of a vacation but the Lord has filled me with what I need. I pray the Lord takes away my wife’s headache. I pray the Lord help you in whatever capacity you need.

Wait on the Lord ; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord !

Psalms 27:14 NKJV
